Black Shiny leggings have been trendy for a good 5 or 6 years now and I’m glad that they have stuck around! They are flattering on just about any body type and are one of the most versatile pieces I can think of. They can be transitioned into just about any season (except for maybe the hottest summer days) and can effortlessly be dressed up or down for just about any occasion! Since they are such a staple piece, I wanted to round up 11 ways to wear black shiny leggings!
Before I get into the different outfits that you can put together, I wanted to share a few different buying options. The Spanx Faux Leather Leggings are by and far the most popular option out there. They typically retail for $98, but occasionally go on sale for $65-$70 during large shopping events like Nordstrom’s N-Sale and Black Friday.
*Pro-Tip: During popular shopping events like the N-Sale and Black Friday, these leggings tend to sell out quickly. Plan to shop early for the best selection. However, if you are unable to snag them directly from Spanx or Nordstrom, don’t be afraid to check less conventional retailers like Moosejaw or Zappos! When these popular leggings go on sale, they still tend to sell out everywhere eventually, but the less conventional places typically have them in stock a little longer.
While the Spanx Faux Leather Leggings are the most popular version of black shiny leggings, the shiny legging trend has been around long enough that there are a TON of more affordable options out there. To be completely honest, I have about 3 pairs of shiny black leggings and NONE of them are the Spanx version! The one thing that many people say that they love most about the Spanx leggings is that they really suck you in and smooth you out in all the right places. So depending on the look and fit that you are going for, the Spanx version could be right for you. If you aren’t necessarily concerned about sucking it all in though, some of these more affordable options might work for you!
1. Shiny Black Leggings with a Basic Cami and a Kimono
We will start here because this is the most summery of all the looks on this list. This is one of those “buy now, wear now” outfits. 2. Shiny Black Leggings with Sandals and a Basic Cardigan
I was looking at the 10-day weather forecast for our area and it said that the temps here are supposed to drop to the lower 70’s and upper 60’s. Now, this is 10 days out, so who knows how that forecast will change between now and then, but if it holds up, this look will be perfect for those temps!

They are so comfy and can be worn all fall and winter as long as there isn’t too much snow or slop on the ground.
