Even if you have been following along around here only a short amount of time, you have probably picked up on the fact that I share a lot of finds from both Amazon and Chicwish. There are benefits and drawbacks to shopping on both platforms, but I have recently noticed some VERY similar items on both retailer’s websites. That realization had me wondering which retailer offered the better option in terms of quality and price. I figured that if I had that question, there had to be others out there who have also wondered the same. So ordered two of the “same” items from each retailer and decided to compare Chicwish vs Amazon.
Before I get into the challengers, I will say that this is my first post of this type. I don’t have a super scientific process ironed out at this point. If this type of post is of interest to you, I can continue to refine the process and share more like it! Feel free to leave a comment or shoot me a message on instagram about what types of items you’d like to see compared or what types of features are most important to you when it comes to the clothes that you purchase.
Now that I have all of that out of my system, let’s get into it!
Chicwish Vs Amazon Colorblock Cardigan
Amazon Colorblock Cardigan:
Regular Price: $30.83
Fit: Available in four Sizes (Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large). I was wearing the medium and would say that it fit slightly oversized.
Material/Quality: 50% Viscose, 25% Polyester, 25% Nylon. I was happy with the quality and the material of the cardigan. It’s a pretty tight knit and seems like it will hold up well.
Care Instructions: Machine washable. Wash cold, separately, on the gentle cycle. Do not bleach. Flat dry. No drying.
Chicwish Colorblock Cardigan:
Regular Price: $49.90
Fit: Available in two sizes (S/M, L/XL). I was wearing the S/M and it was definitely oversized. The sleeves are very long and create some drama at the wrist.
Material/Quality: 100% Polyester. This is a loser knit than it’s Amazon counterpart. It still seems sturdy overall though, especially if you follow the care instructions and wash it by hand.
Care Instructions: Machine wash at 30 degrees celsius. Do not bleach. Do not tumble dry. Dry in shade. Iron on low heat.
Colorblock Cardigan WINNER:
This is a tough decision because a lot of it comes down to what fit you prefer. I like both of these cardigans, but if I had to go back in time and was only able to purchase one, I would probably go with the Amazon version. For me, the ability to machine wash and the $10 savings gives Amazon the slight edge. I do think either item would be a worthwhile purchase though, especially because the material of the Chicwish version does lay very nicely.
Chicwish Vs Amazon Leopard Pattern Sweater
Amazon Leopard Sweater:
Regular Price: $32.89
Fit: Available in 4 sizes (small, medium, large, extra large). I was wearing a size medium and the sweater hit me at the hip. The fit was a little lose without being oversized.
Material/Quality: 100% Polyester. The knit was looser than its Chicwish counterpart and might be a little prone to snagging. (I’ve had this sweater over a year and you can see that I have a small snag on the shoulder).
Care Instructions: Hand wash is recommended for the sweater; If machine wash, cold gentle mode would be good. Do Not Bleach. Hang or Line Dry.
Chicwish Leopard Sweater:
Regular Price: $69.90
Fit: I was in the size S/M in this one. The Chicwish version is slightly tapered in in the body and more fitted at the hips than the Amazon version. The sleeves are more tapered as well, creating a little more of a bubble sleeve look.
Material/Quality: 60% wool/40% polyester. You can tell by the fact that there is less pixelation in the leopard pattern on this one when compared to the Amazon one that the knit is tighter. I would say that this sweater seems more durable than the Amazon version.
Care Instructions: Hand wash cold / Dry clean. Do not bleach.
Leopard Pattern Sweater WINNER:
Again, this is a tougher decision than I thought it would be. The Chicwish version is twice the price as the Amazon one, but the quality justifies that difference. The fit and material are really what differentiate the two sweaters. Based on that, I would say that if I were to repurchase only one of them, it would be the Chicwish sweater. For me, the fit of the Chicwish version was just slightly more flattering and the quality is hands down better than the Amazon option. At under $35, the Amazon option is not a terrible buy, but if you’re patient and shop sales/clearance racks, you can probably find better quality at a similar price at other retailers.
Chicwish Vs Amazon White Turtleneck Sweater
Amazon Turtleneck Sweater:
Regular Price: $31.99
Fit: Available in 5 sizes (X-Small, Small, Medium, Large, X-Large). This version is definitely oversized and tunic length. I’m between 5’6” and 5’7”. It’s possible that someone shorter might be able to get away with wearing it as a dress.
Material/Quality: 50% Viscose + 30% nylon + 20% PBT. The amazon version is a little flow-ier than the Chicwish version, but I think that might be because it is so much more oversized. It seems like this one might be prone to pilling if it is not cared for properly.
Care Instructions: Hand Wash in Cold Water. Do Not Bleach. Lay Flat to Dry. Dry Clean.
Chicwish Turtleneck Sweater:
Regular Price: $69.90
Fit: Available in 2 sizes (S/M, L/XL). I’m between 5’6 and 5’7” and the sweater hit at my hips. It was loose throughout without being oversized.
Material/Quality: 100% Acrylic. Overall the sweater is more structured than the Amazon version It definitely feels durable, especially if you follow the care instructions and hand wash.
Care Instructions: Hand wash. Do not bleach.
White Turtleneck Sweater WINNER:
Quality wise, Chicwish is the hands down winner here. I’ve only worn the Amazon sweater a few times and I can tell that it is already starting to pill a bit. Full disclosure though, I did not hand wash or dry clean it. I put it in the washing machine with my delicates, so the pilling is likely my fault.
Based on the fact that both sweaters have the same care instructions, I would say that if I were to repurchase, I would go with the Amazon one though. It is less than half the cost as the Chicwish version, and if I have to hand wash in either scenario, I’d rather save my money. Also, I tend to gravitate towards a more oversized look, so the Amazon sweater is more up my alley in that respect as well. Again, while I don’t think the Chicwish version is a bad buy, if I could go back, I would size up to the L/XL in it.
Chicwish Vs Amazon Batsleeve Sweater
Amazon Batsleeve Sweater:
Regular Price: $38.98
Fit: Available in 4 sizes (Small, Medium, Large, X-Large). I went with the size medium and it was slightly oversized. The sleeves were long but fitted at the bottom. The bat sleeves added a nice slouch. Although, the color that is shown on the site vs what I actually received was a little off.
Material/Quality: 90% acrylic + 10% cotton. I have to say that this one impressed me! Other than the color being off, the cardigan was for the most part what seemed to be shown in the image on the site. I loved the fit of it seems like it will hold up as well.
Care Instructions: Machine wash cold on delicate cycle with like colors and dry on low heat. Please do not bleach or iron.
Chicwish Batsleeve Sweater:
Regular Price: $55.90
Fit: Available in 2 sizes (S/M, L/XL). I was in the S/M and as you can see, it is slouchy and perfectly oversized. It hangs lower in the back than in the front, and there are pockets on the front. I have also worn it upside down before. Wearing it upside down causes the packets to go away, makes the sleeves shorter and makes the cardigan much longer in the back.
Material/Quality: 100% Polyester. This cardigan stands the test of time. I’ve had it for over a year and I’ve machine washed it with my delicates and it has held up. It is starting to pill a bit, but I think that the pills will be easily removed with a fabric shaver.
Care Instructions: Hand wash cold.
Batsleeve Sweater WINNER:
This is probably the toughest decision of all the sweaters that I have shared here! I was pleasantly surprised with the Amazon version of this one, although $38 is a bit of a higher price point for an Amazon sweater. The Chicwish version does cost more, but it can be worn multiple ways for different looks. Based on that and the fact that I have had it longer, I am going to have to go with the Chicwish version here in terms of which one I would repurchase. Although, I will definitely continue to wear the Amazon one as well!
*Note: As I went through these, I realized that the materials and the care instructions on some of them were not consistent on the tag versus the websites. For the most part, I did list what is on the website. I figured that if they’d needed to make any updated to care instructions, the most up to date info should in theory be on the site.
Well… that was a lot more difficult than I thought it would be! There are benefits and drawbacks to all of the options that I have shared here. In all, most of the options that I’ve shared are good buys. I was as objective as possible in my decisions. As I mentioned earlier, if I continue to do these, I will need to iron out more of a scientific process. I hope this has been helpful! Let me know if you have any outstanding questions or if you think that I missed any comparison points – I’d be happy for the feedback and to clear up any questions you may still have!
As always, thank you so much for reading!
