I have been DIY-ing and crafting a lot lately, so I thought that I would share one of my creations here. This DIY beaded key bracelet is super simple to make and I think that it looks adorable! You could make one for yourself or it would also make a really sweet and personalized gift. Joann’s, Micheal’s, and Hobby Lobby are my go-to stores for supplies. You can order supplies online from all three of them, but sometimes it is easier to take a trip to the store so that you can get a better idea of how colors and textures of different types of beads will look together. I will link everything that I used for my bracelets in this post, but feel free to get creative and make a personalized key ring that you love!
Supplies Needed:
- 18 12mm beads (I used these and these)
- 5 rondelle beads (I used these)
- Approximately 52 inches Stretch Magic beading cord (.5 mm diameter)
- Masking tape
- Beadalon G-S Hypo Cement®
- Charms of your choice (I used this and this)
- Keyring with lobster clasp (I used this)
- Scissors
Directions:
- Measure out the beading cord and cut into 4 pieces, all even in length.
- Gather the 4 pieces of beading cord together so that they are as even in length as possible and tape them on one end to a solid and stable surface (a dining table or coffee table works well).
- Thread the desired bead pattern onto the beading cord. String one bead at a time onto all 4 pieces of the cord until all beads have been strung.
- Attach the lobster claw and desired charms to a key ring. String the keyring onto the beading cord.
- Carefully detach the tape from the solid surface ensuring no beads fall off either end of the beading cord.
- Secure the beads in place by knotting the beading cord several times.
- Glue the knot that you have created with Hypo-Cement. Let dry.
- After the glue has dried, cut off the excess cord.
Tips and Tricks:
- I used 4 pieces of beading cord for extra strength and durability. If one of the cords happens to break, the bracelet will still be supported by 3 additional cords.
- Feel free to increase or decrease the size of the finished bracelet by adding or subtracting beads. Just be sure to add or subtract the length of the beading cord as well!
I’m not sure that this DIY beaded key bracelet could be any easier! The most time-consuming part of the process is probably choosing the color and design of the beads. Although it is such a quick and simple DIY, there is something so satisfying about being able to say that you made something! I hope that my instructions were as straightforward as the project is, but if not, feel free to let me know if you have any questions! Â
As always, thank you so much for reading! I hope this has been helpful!
