Dressing for Spring in the Dead of Winter

It is still the dead of winter here in Wisconsin but now is about the time when I start to itch for spring. To compound my eagerness for the season to change, it seems like this is when ALL of the other bloggers and content creators that I follow along with are either 1) from the South where the weather is actually starting to warm up or 2) going on luxurious looking vacations where the weather is beautiful.

That is just not my reality, and honestly, that’s totally OK with me! I’m Wisconsin born and raised, so a little (or a lot) of cold and/or snow doesn’t really bother me. Even though it’s still cold and snowy here, I’m ready to start dressing for spring. So, that’s what I’m going to do!

The key for me it to just incorporate colors and florals that you would associate with springtime. I think white and light neutrals are also good options that aren’t too over the top. Comfort and practicality are two things that are important to me. Long sleeves and layers are a must – especially if the temperature is below 50°.

I love white jeans and wear them all year long – provided the weather allows for it.  I have especially loved wearing white jeans with over-the-knee boots. The height of the boot shaft allows me to wear white jeans, even in messy weather, without worrying about getting them dirty. I know that not everyone finds white pants to be practical, especially in slush and snow, so I made sure to include an option with normal jeans for all of the outfits that I’m showing here.

One of the best things about being from the Midwest is that the actual seasons are almost always a little behind fashion seasons.  Retailers heavily discount their fall collections and cool-weather clothes in January and February. That way they can start bringing in warmer weather merchandise. This bodes well for us because we can buy items like sweaters and boots at the end of the season on clearance and still get a decent amount of wears out of them before putting them away for next year!

I hope this has shown you that you it’s possible to dress for spring, even if there is still snow on the ground. Hopefully it will serve as inspiration for you to will spring here with your outfits. Especially when it seems like spring is just never going to come! For me, dressing for spring at the end of winter helps make it feel like winter hasn’t lasted for what seems like an eternity. Maybe it can do the same for you!

This is great! I live in and am from WI, it’s nice to wear some fun colors while waiting for spring to show up.

I totally agree Keisha! Winters get to be long here in Wisco, so adding some floral and fun colors can definitely help liven things up!
